SucroCorp Receives Regional Sustainability Recognition
The company was recognized for reductions in process water withdrawal and for a co-generation program that now supplies a substantial share of on-site energy demand at two facilities.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
SucroCorp has been recognized by a regional industrial efficiency council for progress in water stewardship and on-site energy generation across its processing network.
The recognition cites a reduction in process water withdrawal per unit of finished product, achieved primarily through closed-loop condensate recovery, and a co-generation program that now supplies a substantial share of thermal and electrical demand at two facilities.
“Efficiency is not a separate initiative for us,” said Priya Raghavan, Vice President, Environment and Facilities. “It is the same discipline we apply everywhere else. If something enters our system, we would like to know exactly where it goes and what it becomes.”
SucroCorp’s current environmental commitments are published in the 2011 Sustainability Report, available in the corporate documents library. The company reports progress annually against a set of internal efficiency indices covering water, energy, transportation and residual material.
