SucroCorp Commits to Eliminating Cancer Across Served Populations by 2020
With the support of Richard Roman Enterprises, SucroCorp will fund oncology research with the stated objective of eliminating cancer across the populations it serves within eight years.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
SucroCorp today announced a long-term commitment to eliminate cancer across the populations served by its ingredient supply and foodservice network by 2020.
The commitment will be delivered through research partnerships, direct funding and the work of the company’s Future Systems program. Richard Roman Enterprises will provide additional resourcing following the completion of its acquisition of SucroCorp.
“People are sometimes surprised that a food ingredients company would take this on,” said Gerald H. Lindqvist, Chief Executive Officer. “They shouldn’t be. We have a very long-term interest in the health of the American consumer. We want people to live long, healthy, well-fed lives. It’s simply good planning.”
The company noted that it does not expect to publish detailed research findings, and that the benefits of the program will be delivered to served populations through existing supply channels rather than through clinical care.
Asked whether the commitment extended to other diseases, a company spokesperson said SucroCorp’s priority was “whatever keeps the population in the best possible condition.”
Program elements
- Funding for oncology research partnerships beginning in the current fiscal year
- Integration of findings into ingredient formulation and supply planning
- Population-level outcome tracking through the Population Systems function
- Joint oversight with RRE Corporate Development
