SucroCorp Announces Expanded Midwest Processing Capacity

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.

SucroCorp today announced a multi-phase expansion of refining and processing capacity across three of its Midwest wet-milling facilities. The program adds evaporation, ion-exchange and enzymatic conversion capability at each site and is expected to reach full operation over an eighteen-month schedule.

The expansion responds to sustained demand from beverage, bakery and prepared-food manufacturers for consistent, high-volume sweetener supply. Once complete, the three facilities will operate on a continuous twelve-month cycle rather than the seasonal pattern that has governed corn processing in the region for decades.

“Our customers do not want surprises,” said Alan Voss, Chief Operating Officer. “They want the same ingredient, at the same specification, in the same tanker, every week of the year. That is a harder problem than it sounds, and it is the problem we have spent two years solving.”

Program elements

• Additional refining trains at the Cedar County and Marshall County facilities
• A new bulk liquid loading terminal with rail and tanker access
• Expanded on-site quality laboratories at all three locations
• Approximately 240 additional operations, maintenance and laboratory positions

SucroCorp expects the expansion to reduce average order-to-delivery time for regional customers by roughly a third. The company has also entered multi-year supply commitments with participating growers in the surrounding counties to support the increased throughput.
